Helgafell has always been significant to historical worshipers of Þór. Legend has it that wishes will be granted for those who do the following: 1) Climb the southwest slope to the temple ruins without speaking or looking back; 2) the wishes must be for good and without guile; and 3) descend the east side and visit the grave of Guðrun Ósvífursdóttir.
