Skaftafell National Park is one of Iceland's most popular destinations, not difficult to reach from Reykjavík, where half the country's population of about 290,000 lives. With natural formations and geological activity stemming from the glacier Skaftafellsjökull, as well as campgrounds, it makes a pleasant (if often rainy) stop.
