Reykjavík, as seen from the top of Mt. Esja

Of two routes to take to the top of Esja -- from historical church site/farm Esjuberg or the river Mógilsá -- I choose to leave from the river. The route itself winds but would not have been so difficult without driving winds from the ocean.

Near the top the route gets almost too close to vertical for comfort. I was also reminded that if the top of your peak is covered in clouds, it may very well be raining when you're an hour and a half closer to the top. Even the birds aren't with me higher up. Despite the wind, and clinging to rock, I wanted to get this shot of Reykjavík looking to the south. The wide angle of the lens tends to make the spur in the foreground look not nearly as far down as I remember...
